Customer blames Publix for injuries

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a Publix store, alleging negligence caused her injuries.

Silvia Quinn filed a complaint Feb. 6 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Publix Super Markets, Inc. alleging the defendant allowed the floors in a supermarket to become slippery and wet, endangering patrons.

According to the complaint, on March 15, 2016, Quinn was a business invitee at defendant's supermarket on East Lake Road, Palm Harbor. The suit says Quinn slipped and fell due to a slippery and wet floor that remained in the premises.

As a result, Quinn says she sustained physical injuries, disfigurement and impaired her ability to work. The plaintiff alleges Publix Super Markets breached its duty by failing to maintain and warn customers of the existence of dangerous and defective conditions.

Quinn seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000 and costs of action. She is represented by attorney Chafica A. Singha of Singha Law Group in St. Petersburg.
