CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County man is suing a St. Petersburg property owner, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff being attacked by wasps.

John Talsma filed a complaint Jan. 25 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Associa Gulf Coast Inc., doing business as Terrace Park of Five Towns No. 10 Inc., alleging the property owner failed to provide a safe environment for its residents.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 14, 2015, Talsma was a tenant at the Terrace Park apartments in St. Petersburg. He says he was stung by wasps, leading to injuries in and about his body and extremities, medical expenses, pain and suffering of both a physical and mental nature and lost wages.

The suit says the wasps were negligently allowed by the defendant to remain on its property.

The plaintiff alleges Terrace Park of Five Towns No. 10 failed to inspect, maintain and keep the area free of infested wasp nests, and failed to warn Talsma of the dangerous condition.

Talsma seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by attorney James D. Arnold Jr. of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in St. Petersburg.
