Ocoee homeowners allege insurance carrier failed to pay for hurricane damage

Insurance 08

ORLANDO — Two Ocoee homeowners are suing an insurance carrier, alleging breach of contract.

Derek C. Goff and Gina M. Goff filed a complaint Jan. 22 in Orange County Circuit Court against Omega Insurance Company, alleging failure to cover damages caused by a hurricane.

According to the complaint, Sept. 10, 2017, the Goffs' dwelling at 746 Satin Leaf Circle, Ocoee, sustained damage from Hurricane Irma during the policy period. However, the suit says, despite the Goffs' efforts to furnish timely notice of covered losses and performing all obligations to recover under the policy, Omega has yet to pay either part or all of plaintiffs' claim.

The plaintiffs allege Omega Insurance has failed to perform under the policy, and failed to fully pay for all the plaintiffs’ losses.

The Goffs seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 for the plaintiffs’ losses with interest on any overdue payments, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorney Roger A. Hatfield of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
