Patron alleges beauty parlor's negligence caused burn injuries

CLEARWATER — A customer is suing a Largo beauty parlor, alleging negligence caused her to suffer burn injuries.

Kathleen Kennedy filed a complaint Dec. 21 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Raymor Enterprises Inc., doing business as Fantastic Sams, and J. Doe, alleging they failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on June 25, 2016, Kennedy went the Fantastic Sams salon at 3665 E. Bay Drive. Largo. The suit says Kennedy was severely burned during an eyebrow and upper lip waxing treatment due to the negligence of an agent of the defendants in the maintenance of the wax heater.

As a result, Kennedy says she was injured in and about her face, incurred medical expenses, mental anguish, emotional distress and faces future surgeries.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants created a dangerous condition in reckless disregard for the safety of its customers, and failed to properly train staff and determine those who were unfit to maintain its wax heater machine.

Kennedy seeks trial by jury and damages that exceed $15,000. She is represented by attorneys Patrick W. Harland Jr. of St. Petersburg, and by John Davis Fernandez of Clearwater.
