St. Petersburg nursing home accused of causing resident's death

CLEARWATER — A personal representative is suing a St. Petersburg nursing home, alleging negligence in the care of a resident.

CLEARWATER — A personal representative is suing a St. Petersburg nursing home, alleging negligence in the care of a resident.

Sharon Ann Outwater filed a complaint Dec. 6 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Osprey Health Care Center LLC, Enrique De La Piedra and Randy Lee Sloan, alleging they breached the professional standard of care and treatment.

According to the complaint, Ronald A. Pascazi was a resident at Osprey Health Care Center from March 20. 2015, until his discharge Nov. 30, 2016. The suit says he suffered bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, medical expenses and aggravation of a previous existing condition that ultimately caused of his death Dec. 26, 2016, due to the defendants' negligent acts and omissions. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to ensure staff were properly trained and supervised, and failed to ensure the monitoring of significant signs and symptoms of change in Pascazi's condition.

Outwatern seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, disgorgement of profits, consequential damages, attorney fees and costs, pre-judgment interest, punitive damages and all further relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorney Kathleen Clark Knight of Wilkes & McHugh PA in St. Petersburg.
