CLEARWATER — A mother is suing the operators of a Seminole martial arts school, alleging sexual abuse to a minor student.
Mrs. Doe, individually and as parent and natural guardian of Jane Doe, a minor, filed a complaint Nov. 15 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Oh's Traditional Taekwondo Center, Inc., Ayung Oh and Andrew Jin Kim, alleging the defendants created an unnecessary and unreasonably dangerous environment for minors students.
According to the complaint, between Aug. 31, 2013, and Jan. 11, 2016, the minor child was enrolled as a student at the defendants' Taekwondo center in Seminole. The suit says the child was sexually abused and molested.
As a result, Mrs. Doe says her child suffered severe and permanent emotional distress, embarrassment, loss of self-esteem and psychological injuries.
The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to exercise reasonable care in the selection, hiring, training and supervision of its teachers to prevent sexual abuse of the students.
Doe seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, court costs and all just interest. She is represented by attorney Douglas K. Burnetti of Burnetti, PA in Lakeland.
