ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract in failing to cover damages caused by a hurricane.
Yalemis Olea Rivero filed a complaint Oct. 17 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging breach of good faith and fair dealings.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 6, 2016, while the homeowners insurance policy issued by Security First was in full force and effect, Rivero's property at 5811 Willow Leaf Court, Orlando, sustained a covered loss due to Hurricane Matthew.
As of the date of the filing of this complaint, the suit says, Rivero has not received full payment. The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance has failed to adequately provide coverage under the terms of the policy and failed to fully pay all the benefits under the policy.
Rivero seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, interest, costs and reasonable attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Juan E. Mourin of The Law Offices of Grey & Mourin, PA in Miami.
