Pedestrian blames Largo for injuries in fall

CLEARWATER — A pedestrian is suing the city of Largo and a property owner, alleging negligence caused her to fall on a sidewalk and suffer injuries.

Sandra E. Gonzalez filed a complaint Sept. 25 in Pinellas Circuit Court against the city of Largo and Matthew E. Ristau, alleging they failed to maintain a premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 24, 2013, Gonzaelz was seriously injured when she slipped and fell on a portion of the sidewalk adjacent to the property of Ristau at 1200 Whisper Driver, Largo, She said she sustained injuries to her neck, shoulder, chest back and other parts of her body, causing pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, lost of capacity for the enjoyment of life and medical expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to timely conduct an adequate inspection of the sidewalk area and failed to warn the general public of the dangerous condition of the property.

Gonzalez seeks trial by jury, judgment of more than $15,000, court costs and interest on all liquidated damages. She is represented by attorney Bryan D. Caulfield of Perenich, Caulfield, Avril & Noyes PA in Clearwater.
