Patron blames restaurant owner injuries

ORLANDO — An Orange County woman is suing an Orlando restaurant owner, alleging negligence caused her to suffer injuries.

Marilyn Suarez Ortiz filed a complaint Sept. 14 in Orange Circuit Court against Tijuana Flats Burrito Company LLC, alleging the restaurant owner failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 2, 2016, Ortiz was a patron at Tijuana Flats in Orlando, when she slipped and fell on a liquid/greasy substance on the floor. The suit says the fall caused her injuries and damages, including scarring, mental anguish, loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life, loss of earning, and aggravation of a previously existing condition.

The plaintiff alleges Tijuana Flats Burrito failed to adequately inspect and maintain the floor area, failed to provide a safe and secure means of moving about the premises, and failed to train its employees to inspect the premises for a dangerous condition.

Ortiz seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 plus interest and costs. She is represented by Lawrence Gonzalez II of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
