GeoVera Specialty Insurance Company allegedly breached insurance contract

Insurance 04

ORLANDO — An Orlando resident is suing GeoVera Specialty Insurance Company for alleged breach of contract.

Treena Winkler filed a complaint on June 27 in the Orange County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her residence suffered damages on Oct. 8, 2016 due to a hurricane. The defendant, however, allegedly refused to pay for the damages.

The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly obligating her to retain and pay for legal counsel to represent and protect her interests, and for allegedly refusing to pay the full amount of her insurance claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, interest, costs and attorney's fees. She is represented by David R. Heil of David R. Heil PA in Winter Park.
