Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. seeks more than $39,000 for condo damage

CLEARWATER – An insurance company is seeking damages after water damaged its insureds' St. Petersburg condominium.

Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. as subrogee of Stephen Fineberg and Sharon Manwarren, filed a complaint on June 16 in the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida - Pinellas County against Long Bayou Condominium Association Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 10, 2016, the Fineberg and Manwarren condo was damaged by water due to a broken pipe line or main drain stack at defendant's condominium complex. The plaintiff claims it paid $33,943.74 for property damage, loss and other expenses to its insured. 

The plaintiff holds Long Bayou Condominium Association Inc. responsible because the defendant failed to inspect, maintain and/or repair the pipe/plumbing lines.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant in the sum of $39,443.74, plus costs, prejudgment interest and such other just and equitable relief. It is represented by Alyson Holob, Christopher Wyszynski and Jonathan Martenak in Fort Lauderdale.
