Publix Supermarkets Inc. shopper seeks damages over alleged injuries sustained in fall

Slip01

FORT LAUDERDALE – A shopper at a Plantation supermarket alleges she was injured because of a slippery substance left on a floor.

Barbara Cocomello filed a complaint on June 7 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Publix Supermarkets Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 21, 2014, she sustained severe injuries, physical and mental pain and suffering, grief, anguish, and aggravation of a previously existing condition when she slipped and fell due to an unknown, slippery substance on the floor that the defendant allowed to remain on the floor of its property.

The plaintiff holds Publix Supermarkets Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn plaintiff of the dangerous condition; failed to place barricades, signs and other marking devices to alert customers; and failed to correct the hazardous condition of the premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, costs, interest and other relief the court deems just. She is represented by Gregory Deutch of Rubenstein Law PA in Miami.
