ORLANDO – An Osceola County woman formerly employed by a Brazilian steakhouse in Orlando alleges she was discriminated against because of her pregnancy.

Dayana Quintana filed a complaint on May 24 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Fogo De Chao Churrascaria (Orlando) LLC alleging violation of the Florida Civil Rights Act and discrimination.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for the defendant from October 2015 to May 2016 as a table busser. She alleges that during her employment she was pregnant and that her physician restricted her regarding the type and amount of work she could perform, including weight restrictions. She alleges that she was terminated on May 6, 2016, in retaliation for her complaints of discrimination and/or because of her pregnancy.

The plaintiff holds Fogo De Chao Churrascaria (Orlando) LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected plaintiff to disparate treatment on account of her pregnancy and retaliated against plaintiff for engaging in protected activity under the FCRA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, declaratory relief, compensation for lost wages, benefits and other remuneration, reinstatement, front pay, compensatory and punitive damages, interest, costs, attorney's fees and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Luis A. Cabassa PA of Wenzel Fenton Cabassa PA in Tampa.
