Publix shopper seeks more than $15,000 after falling in restroom

Slip01

ORLANDO – A Publix shopper alleges she fell in the restroom at an Orlando location and was injured.

Veronica I. Godoy filed a complaint on May 10 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Publix Super Markets Inc. and Patrick Foradori alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 8, 2016, she was a customer in defendants' store when she slipped and fell on a puddle of water that was leaking from one of the toilets. As a result of defendants' alleged negligence, plaintiff claims she sustained serious bodily injuries and resulting pain and suffering, disability, medical expenses, and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff holds Publix Super Markets Inc. and Foradori responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn plaintiff of the dangerous condition, failed to properly inspect the premises to detect and avoid dangerous conditions, and failed to implement policies, procedures and practices that would prevent the foreseeable dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages of more than $15,000 against the defendant, together with costs and prejudgment interest. She is represented by W. Andrew Rariden of The Trial Professionals PA in Orlando.
