FORT LAUDERDALE – A Hallandale property owner claims that an insurance company did not pay the actual cash value for her loss.
Elvida Laguerre filed a complaint on April 27 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of insurance policy.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 22, 2016, her property was damaged by an accidental discharge of water from a plumbing system that caused sudden and immediate physical damage to the insured property.
The plaintiff holds Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay the full amount of actual cash value of the insured loss.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000, plus statutory interest, court costs and attorney's fees. She is represented by Robert A. Reynolds of Duboff Law Firm in North Miami.
