Patient accuses Morton Plant Hospital of negligence regarding his care

Medical malpractice 09

CLEARWATER – A Clearwater man alleges that a hospital failed to provide appropriate care.

Jeffrey W. Crook filed a complaint on May 3 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Pinellas County against Morton Plant Hospital Association Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that from Jan. 31, 2015, to April 19, 2015, he was admitted to Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. He alleges that the defendant failed to provide adequate and appropriate skin care and that he developed at stage three sacral pressure sore.

The plaintiff holds Morton Plant Hospital Association Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly supervise and train staff, failed to prevent unnecessary pain and suffering, failed to recognize signs and symptoms of infection, and failed to adequately respond to plaintiff's worsening skin, malnutrition and dehydration conditions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages of more than $15,000 and costs. He is represented by Jason R. Delgado of Wilkes & McHugh PA in St. Petersburg.
