Consumer claims Praetorian Insurance Co. breached contract regarding claim

Insurance 08

ORLANDO – An Orlando property owner alleges her insurer failed to pay the full amount for her damage claim.

Marisol Mejia filed a complaint on May 2 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Praetorian Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 17, 2016, her Orlando property sustained damages because of an accidental discharge of water from a plumbing system. She alleges she reported the damages to the defendant and that the defendant failed to pay the full amount of the replacement cost value.

The plaintiff holds Praetorian Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly evaluate the full amount of the replacement cost value and failed to acknowledge coverage for the loss.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages in an amount of more than $15,000, prejudgment interest, court costs and attorney's fees. She is represented by Kenneth R. Duboff of Duboff Law Firm in North Miami.
