FORT LAUDERDALE – A Pompano Beach man alleges a Fort Lauderdale restaurant failed to pay him the minimum wage rate during his employment.
James Ferguson filed a complaint on April 24 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Chase Development International LLC, doing business as Cheers, alleging violation of the Florida Minimum Wage Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked as a cook for the defendant from 2000 to May 2015 and worked an average of five hours a week that he was not paid for. The plaintiff holds Chase Development International LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay him the state minimum wage for all hours worked.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, unpaid wages, liquidated damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs, disbursements and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Tammy Hammack-Barber of Cohen Grossman Attorneys at Law in Maitland.
