Widow files medical malpractice claim against doctor over husband's death

Medical malpractice 05

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Broward County woman alleges a doctor failed to recommended surgery for her husband in a timely manner.

Chitra Balgobin filed a complaint on March 30 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Dr. Cesar A. Alegre alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her husband and decedent Krytnarine Balgobin was diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurism (AAA) and was under the care of the defendant. The suit states that there was a dramatic increase in the size of his AAA in 2013 that warranted surgical removal, which the defendant failed to recommend in a timely manner. As a result, the suit states the plaintiff's husband died of hemorrhagic shock from the ruptured AAA in 2014, while plaintiff alleges she suffered the loss of her husband's companionship, support and services.

The plaintiff holds Alegre responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to timely and appropriately recognize that the decedent required surgical intervention.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for all recoverable damages against the defendant, including compensatory damages. She is represented by Julie N. Pagni of Shevin Law Firm PLLC in Boca Raton.
