FORT LAUDERDALE — A woman is suing Balaji Investments Inc., a hotel property owner, citing alleged negligence for a fall and injuries she says she experienced in her room.

Hattie Parks filed a complaint on March 14 in the Broward County Circuit Court against Balaji Investments alleging that it failed to provide a reasonably safe environment for its guests at its hotel at 1700 West Broward Boulevard.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Nov. 5, 2014, she sustained serious bodily injuries as the result of an accident inside one of the hotel rooms owned and operated by the defendant, caused by an improper and/or defective mattress, box spring and/or bed frame that suddenly propelled forward causing plaintiff to fall to the ground. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because it allegedly failed to provide the proper bed for the occupants of the room and failed to routinely inspect and maintain the beds located on its premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in excess of $15,0000, plus costs. She is represented by Jason R. Manocchio of Robert J. Fenstersheib & Associates PA in Hallandale Beach.
