Universal Property & Casualty Insurance alleged to have refused to cover fire damages

ORLANDO – An individual alleges her insurer has denied to fully pay for damages from a house fire.

Andrea Burch filed a complaint on March 13 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of insurance contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 1, 2016, her home and the contents in it were damaged by fire. At that time, plaintiff had a full force and effect a policy of homeowners insurance issued by the defendant, the suit states. The plaintiff holds Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly wrongfully refused and continues to refuse to fully pay for the plaintiff's covered losses.

The plaintiff requests seeks payment for all covered losses, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs and all other relief deemed proper by the court. She is represented by Thomas E. Mooney of Mooney Colvin PL in Orlando.
