MIAMI — A Miami woman is suing Contract Callers Inc., a debt collector, citing alleged unfair debt collection practices.

Sahily Bunt filed a complaint on March 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida alleging that the Georgia-based company violated the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on June 30, 2016, she received a collection letter directing her to defendant’s website to make payment. The website advised her that she would be charged a $5 convenience fee to make payment. As a result, plaintiff has been damaged. The plaintiff holds Contract Callers responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully attempted to collect an amount not owed by plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, attorney fees and costs and such other and further relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Michael Jay Ringelheim of RC Law Group PLLC in Hackensack, New Jersey.
