Medgap Direct accused of violating labor law by former employee

Law money 03

MIAMI – A former employee of Medgap Direct Inc. alleges he is owed unpaid wages.

Michael Holland filed a complaint on March 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Medgap Direct Inc., doing business as Healthgap Direct, and Adam Awany citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for the defendants from October to December 2015.

The plaintiff holds Medgap Direct Inc. and Awany responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly compensate the plaintiff at a rate of time-and-one-half for his overtime work, failed to pay a minimum wage and wrongfully withheld wages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for all damages and relief under the FLSA, including liquidated damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses, unpaid wages and all other relief the court deems just. He is represented by Chad E. Levy of Law Offices of Levy & Levy PA in Sunrise.
