TAMPA – A Tampa resident alleges he was harassed with collection calls.
Gerald Cearley filed a complaint on March 20 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Best Buy Stores LP alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained damages from receiving numerous calls on his cellular telephone from the defendant in its attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Best Buy Stores LP responsible because the defendant allegedly called the plaintiff using an automatic telephone dialing system and called several times per day.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, punitive damages, actual damages, court costs, interest, and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Stefan A. Alvarez and William Peerce of The Consumer Protection Firm in Tampa.
