Unum Life Insurance alleged to have wrongfully denied man's disability benefits claim

Insurance 07

TAMPA – A Hillsborough County corporation is alleged to have wrongfully denied disability payments to an individual.

Donald Fiore filed a complaint on Feb. 23 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Unum Life Insurance Co. of America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he is disabled according to the terms of the plan. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay disability benefit payments to plaintiff and failed to provide a full and fair review of plaintiff’s claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, interest, costs, attorney's fees and other relief as the court may deem just. He is represented by William S. Coffman Jr. of Coffman Law in Tampa.
