Former office assistant claims Kids First Dentistry did not properly compensate for overtime

Law money 13

JACKSONVILLE – A Clay County resident alleges her Duval County employer only paid her the regular wage rate for overtime work.

Tonya Jeffers filed a complaint on behalf of others similarly situated on Feb. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against Kids First Dentistry Inc. and Jila J. Mahajan alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for the defendants from November 2013 to September 2016 as an office assistant. The plaintiff holds Kids First Dentistry Inc. and Mahajan responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff any overtime premiums for working more than 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Paul M. Botros of Morgan & Morgan PA in Plantation.
