Man alleges he is entitled to short, long-term disability benefits

OCALA – A Lake County man alleges his claim for disability benefits was not fairly considered.

Amir Broumand filed a complaint on Feb. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Ocala Division against BB&T Corp. and Hartford Life & Accident Insurance Co. citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that his claims for short and long-term disability benefits were denied by the defendants. The plaintiff holds BB&T Corp. and Hartford Life & Accident Insurance Co. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed consider the plaintiff's medical evidence.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, payment of benefits, interest, attorneys' fees and costs. He is represented by Herbert M. Hill and Michael Ann Woodard of Herbert M. Hill PA in Orlando.
