WFP employee claims she should be reinstated to receive disability benefits

Insurance 10

FORT LAUDERDALE – A former World Food Program employee is seeking reinstatement to her disability benefits.

Christine Horansky filed a complaint on Feb. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against The Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2013, she became disabled and was initially approved to receive disability benefits but was limited to a maximum period of 24 months. The plaintiff holds The Guardian Life Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly investigate the merits of her disability claim and failed to provide a fair review.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits due to the plaintiff, reinstatement, all legal fees, interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Rachel Alters and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer Chartered in Hollywood.
