Man alleges he was wrongfully terminated by Precision Landscape Management Inc.

OCALA – A Lake County man alleges he was terminated during a hospital stay by his employer.

Donald Hughes filed a complaint on Jan. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Ocala Division against Precision Landscape Management Inc. alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 17, 2016, he was terminated by the defendant in retaliation for being hospitalized for his worsening mental health condition. The plaintiff holds Precision Landscape Management Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff without consideration of his medical condition and retaliated against plaintiff's attempt to exercise his right to take leave under the FMLA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, back pay, liquidated damages, other monetary damages, equitable relief, declaratory relief, attorneys' fees, costs, and further relief as the court deems just.
