Customer blames Walmart for injuries at store

Slip01

ORLANDO — An Indian River County woman is suing Walmart, alleging a store's negligence caused her to suffer injuries.

Rosemary Jefferson filed a complaint Dec. 30 in Orange County Circuit Court against Wal-mart Stores Inc., doing business as Walmart Neighborhood Market, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care and caution for the safety of its customers.

According to the complaint, on June 15, 2013, Jefferson was shopping within a Walmart store in Orlando. As she was walking down the baking aisle, she suddenly slipped and fell, due to a slippery liquid on the floor.

The lawsuit says Jefferson suffered injuries from the fall. The plaintiff alleges Walmart failed to provide and maintain a safe place for patrons to walk, allowed a slippery liquid to remain on the floor in a high-traffic area, and failed to warn the plaintiff about the existing dangers of the premises.

Jefferson seeks trial by jury, general damages and all just relief. She is represented by attorney Amanda Anderson Bright of Fenderson Law Firm in Delray Beach.
