Grand Beach Hotel, 5 Star Service Inc. alleged to have not paid overtime wages

MIAMI – Two women have filed a class-action suit against their joint employers over allegations they were not compensated for the overtime hours they worked.

Mirna Vasquez and Dora Hernandez filed a complaint on behalf of other similarly situated individuals on Dec. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against MB Florida Limited LLC, doing business as Grand Beach Hotel; 5 Star Service Inc.; and Gladys Fundora citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid overtime compensation. The plaintiffs holds MB Florida Limited LLC, doing business as Grand Beach Hotel; 5 Star Service Inc.; and Fundora responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime premiums to the plaintiff for working more than 40 hours per week.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek actual damages, compensatory damages plus interest, enjoin the defendants, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by R. Martin Saenz of Saenz & Anderson PLLC in Aventura.
