Employee accuses pet business of failing to pay overtime

Cruise 07

MIAMI — An employee is suing a Florida pet business, alleging unpaid overtime wages and violation of workers compensation acts.

Jessica Faustino Gurgel filed a lawsuit Nov. 30 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Boss Rain Forest Pet Resort Inc., doing business as Boss the Pet Connection, in Coral Springs and Sunrise, Enrique Fernandez and Patricia Fernandez, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Gurgel worked more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to pay Gurgel any overtime premium for working more than 40 hours per week as required by FLSA.

Gurgel seeks trial by jury, judgement against the defendant, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Elliot Kozolchyk of Koz Law PA in Fort Lauderdale.
