Carnival passenger claims he was injured because of ship's frayed carpet

Cruise 05

MIAMI – A California man claims he was injured in a cruise ship after he tripped on a frayed carpet.

Jay Christopher filed a complaint on Nov. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 16, 2015, he sustained physical injuries from tripping on a frayed carpeted floor while traveling on the defendant's ship Imagination. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly warn the plaintiff regarding the hazardous condition and for allowing the condition to exist.

The plaintiff seeks damages, compensatory damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Andrew L. Waks of Waks & Barnett PA in Miami.
