FORT LAUDERDALE – A Washington tech company alleges a Tamarac business has been selling illegal copies of its software online.

Microsoft Corp. filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Division against Tech HQ Inc., Ludy A. Chacon and Frank Zabroski alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business. The plaintiff holds Tech HQ Inc., Chacon and Zabroski responsible because the defendants allegedly distributed unauthorized copies of plaintiff's software through their website.

The plaintiff seeks injunctive relief against the defendant, impound all infringing copies of plaintiff's software; order that the defendant's website be disabled; actual, special, general, and statutory damages; enhanced statutory damages; damages and profits; all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
