1st Financial Bank hit with lawsuit over alleged improper debt collection practices

TAMPA — An individual is suing 1st Financial Bank USA, a financial institution, citing alleged violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Kathryn Malone filed a complaint on Oct. 31, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against 1st Financial Bank USA alleging that the financial institution called plaintiff several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in April, she suffered damages from receiving several collection calls. The plaintiff holds 1st Financial Bank USA responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to call plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, actual damages, punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Michael A. Ziegler of Law Office of Michael A. Ziegler, P.L. in Clearwater.
