Phone 07

MIAMI — A consumer is suing Ally Financial Inc., a debt collector, citing alleged violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Claude Lewis filed a complaint on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Ally Financial Inc., claiming that the debt collector contacted his cellular telephone several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2016, he received several collection calls from Ally Financial Inc. that violated the law due to the use of an automatic telephone dialing system.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks $1,500 for each and every violation, an injunction against the defendant, and any other relief the court deems just. He is represented by George N. Andrews of Loan Lawyers, LLC in Ft. Lauderdale.
