Woman alleges arm injury occurred because of Gill Dawg Marina's negligence

TAMPA – A Michigan woman has filed suit against an Odessa corporation over allegations her arm was injured while a passenger in a rented boat.

Tracey Forbes filed a complaint on Oct. 6 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Gill Dawg Inc., doing business as Gill Dawg Marina, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 10, 2015, she was a passenger in a boat rented by her family from the defendant. Upon their return, the suit states an employee of the defendant boarded the boat to moor it in a specific area of the marina and as the boat got near the dock, the employee yelled to her to "push off the dock" with her arms in an attempt to prevent the boat from hitting the dock. As a result, the plaintiff alleges her arm was pinned between the boat and the dock that resulted to serious and permanent injuries to her left arm.

The plaintiff holds Gill Dawg Inc. responsible because the defendant's employee allegedly failed to control/maneuver the vessel so as not to hit the dock.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, costs incurred and other relief as the court may deem just. She is represented by Frank D. Butler of Frank D. Butler PA in Pinellas Park.
