'Criminal' copyright owners allege movie was illegally shared online

ORLANDO – A company that owns a copyright for a film alleges an unknown internet user believed to reside in Seminole County illegally distributed the movie online.

Criminal Productions Inc. filed a complaint on Oct. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against John or Jane Doe 68.205.109.229 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it discovered that defendant was reproducing and distributing its copyrighted movie "Criminal" through the internet by through BitTorrent.

The plaintiff holds John or Jane Doe 68.205.109.229 responsible because the defendant allegedly reproduced and distributed the copyrighted film without permission from plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in its favor, enjoin defendant from further infringement, actual damages, costs, attorneys' fees and further relief as the court deems proper.
