PENSACOLA — A man has filed suit against a thrift store for alleged unpaid wages.

Abdo Peters filed a complaint Sept. 2 in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Pensacola Division, against Society of St. Vincent De Paul and the Council of Pensacola-Tallahassee Inc., alleging that the thrift store violated his rights as an employee to proper compensation under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that while he performed the duties of a warehouse and thrift store employee, he was not paid for tending to other job-related appointments that the defendant had assigned him, which caused the plaintiff to suffer from unpaid wages.

The plaintiff holds Society of St. Vincent De Paul and the Council of Pensacola-Tallahassee Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay plaintiff the appropriate minimum wage due and failed to keep a record of the plaintiff's work hours.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in his favor, unpaid minimum wages, damages, attorney's fees, costs of suit and other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jeremiah J. Talbott and Tyler L. Gray of Law Office of Jeremiah J. Talbott PA in Pensacola.
