Man claims finger was partially amputated in fall caused by defective ladder

ORLANDO – A Mall at Millenia employee alleges a finger on his right hand was damaged when the ladder he was using to reach a pair of shoes for a customer buckled and caused him to fall.

Rafael A. Blasini Jr. filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court for Orange County against Louisville Ladder Inc. alleging strict liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 17, 2015, he sustained severe physical injuries, including the partial amputation of his right fifth finger, when he ladder he was using malfunctioned, causing him to suffer a fall. The plaintiff holds Louisville Ladder Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly test the ladder and failed to use proper materials in its construction.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages. He is represented by Michael M. Bell and Anna E. Engelman of Bell & Roper PA in Orlando and Donald Van Dingenen of Van Dingenen PA in Winter Park.
