Clay County man seeks disability benefits from Prudential

Insurance 01

JACKSONVILLE – A Clay County man alleges he was wrongfully denied long-term disability benefits.

Shawn Gwaltney filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the 4th Judicial Circuit Court - Duval County against The Prudential Insurance Co. of America, doing business as The Prudential Insurance Co. of America Disability Management Services, alleging that the insurance firm denied plaintiff's claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, he became disabled due to several medical conditions and applied for disability benefits but was denied by the defendant. The plaintiff holds The Prudential Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly denied plaintiff's claim for disability benefits despite being disabled according to the terms of the plan and while the plan in in full effect.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by J. Alfred Stanley Jr. of Meyers & Stanley in Jacksonville.
