Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church allegedly failed to pay former employee overtime

MIAMI — A former parish administrator has filed a class-action lawsuit against an Episcopal church alleging the plaintiff wasn't fully paid for all hours worked.

Winsome Henry filed a complaint on behalf of himself and other similarly situated individuals on Aug. 30 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church Inc., alleging that the employer failed to fairly compensate the plaintiff for all hours worked.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between August 2013 and June 2016, the plaintiff worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated the plaintiff as retaliation after complaining about not being paid ay overtime premium for hours worked that exceeded 40 per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all back wages, liquidated damages in an equal amount, front wages, compensatory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. The plantiff is represented by Anthony M. Georges-Pierre of Remer & Georges-Pierre PLLC in Miami.
