Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance accused of wrongful termination of benefits

Insurance 11

FORT MYERS – A Collier County man alleges his insurance company wrongfully terminated his benefits despite multiple appeals.

Timothy S. Gordon filed a complaint on July 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers against The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, he was initially paid disability benefits until benefits were terminated on March 1, 2015, by the defendant. The plaintiff holds The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff's disability benefits despite having adequate proof to support plaintiff's disability claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks order that he is entitled to continued disability benefits, actual damages of more than $75,000, all damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Alicia Paulino-Grisham and Maggie M. Smith of Di Law Group in Hollywood.
