FORT LAUDERDALE – A Broward County man has filed suit against his former employer alleging he was not property compensated for overtime hours while employed as a chauffeur.
Gary Ross filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on July 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Division against Fort Lauderdale Transportation Inc., doing business as USA Transportation Services, and Michael Solomon alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2014, he was hired and worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime premiums. The plaintiff holds Fort Lauderdale Transportation Inc. and Solomon responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay plaintiff at a rate of time-and-one-half for all hours worked in excess of 40 per week.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Brian Barakat of Barakat Law PA in Coral Gables.
