Law money 04

MIAMI – A receptionist is suing her former Miami Shores employer over allegations that she is owed unpaid overtime wages.

Kimberly Matthews filed a complaint on April 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Chander Shaykher, MD, PA alleging that the former employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during her employment from August 2015 to March, she regularly worked for an average of 45 hours per week but was not paid overtime premium at the correct overtime rate. The plaintiff holds Chandler Shaykher, MD, PA responsible because the defendant allegedly intentionally forced her to work more than 40 hours per week without paying her the correct overtime wage rate and terminated her in retaliation for refusing to participate in its policy of not paying overtime wages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for lost wages, liquidated damages, punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and costs and for such other and further relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Robert W. Brock II of Law Office of Lowell J. Kuvin in Miami.
