Law money 05

FORT MYERS – A valet attendant has filed a class-action lawsuit against his former employer, citing alleged unpaid wages.

Kaloyan Anguelov filed a complaint on behalf of those similarly situated on April 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division against Event Parking Inc. and Kenneth Benson alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between 2009 and June 2015, he did not receive proper minimum wage and overtime compensation during one or more weeks. The plaintiff holds Event Parking Inc. and Benson responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay proper minimum wages for each hour performed, failed to compensate him at the rate of one-and-one-half of his hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 per week and failed to maintain proper time records.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and actual and liquidated damages, attorneys' fees, costs and expenses, prejudgment interest and for any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Angeli Murthy of Morgan & Morgan PA in Plantation.
