Celebrity Summit passenger alleges she was injured in fall on ship

Cruise 02

MIAMI – A Kansas woman who was a passenger on the Celebrity Summit is suing the cruise line owner alleging she was injured on the ship.

Sherry Leonard filed a complaint on April 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Celebrity Cruises Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 20 while she was descending a staircase on the ship, her foot slipped out from under her like she had stepped on ice, causing her to fall and suffer five fractures of her leg, among other injuries and damages. The plaintiff holds Celebrity Cruises Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to eliminate the hazardous condition of the stairs, failed to warn passengers of the dangerous condition and failed to properly train and supervise its crew so as to avoid such incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, prejudgment and post-judgment interest and for any and all other relief which the court may deem just or appropriate. She is represented by Spencer Marc Aronfeld of Aronfeld Trial Lawyers in Coral Gables.
