Man sues drivers, government over traffic accident

Car collision

ORLANDO — A man who says he was injured in a chain-reaction crash on a Tampa freeway has sued two other motorists and the United States of America, citing alleged negligence.

Alexander Garcia filed suit on March 8 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against the United States of America, Bette Wismann and Karen E. Jacobi, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care under the circumstances.

The plaintiff alleges that, on March 25, 2014, he was in his vehicle on Interstate 275 when a U.S. Postal Service truck operated by Edward Clayton Wilkerson hit Wismann's car, causing it to hit Jacobi's car, which then hit the plaintiff's vehicle. Garcia claims he suffered damages and bodily injury that resulted in pain and suffering, disability and mental anguish.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for all damages, costs of this action and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by R. Stanley Gipe of Papa & Gipe, P.A. in Clearwater.
