FORT MYERS – A Lee County woman alleges that her employer did not pay her overtime wages as required by law.
Joann Isaac filed a complaint on March 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division against Classic Cleaners of Pelican Landing Inc. and William Gutierrez, citing violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she did not receive proper overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Classic Cleaners of Pelican Landing Inc. and William Gutierrez responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to maintain proper time records, failed to properly compensate her at the rate required by the FLSA, and did not disclose or apprise her of her rights under the law.
The plaintiff seeks the following: compensation for actual, liquidated and statutory damages, reasonable attorneys' fees and costs, and any other relief that the court may deem proper. She is represented by Angeli Murthy of Morgan & Morgan PA in Plantation.
