LED lighting manufacturer sues competitor over alleged patent infringement

0ac14672

ORLANDO – An LED lighting manufacturer is suing a competitor over claims of patent infringement.

Lightning Science Group Corp. filed a complaint on Feb. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Hyperikon Inc., a competitor, citing alleged patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it has been injured and will continue to be injured unless and until the court enters an injunction prohibiting defendant from continuing further infringement. The plaintiff holds Hyperikon Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly infringed Patent No. 8,967,844 Patent No. 8,672,518, both titled Low Profile Light and Accessory Kit for the Same, in its LED Downlight products.

The plaintiff seeks the following: a preliminary and permanent injunction prohibiting further infringement by defendant; compensation for actual damages, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees and costs; and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. It is represented by Mark F. Warzecha of Widerman Malek PL in Melbourne.
